A Mass Meditation Experiment with 1 Giant Mind and Dr. Paul Zak
Today 1 Giant Mind launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo platform to raise $12,000 to fund a world first mass meditation research project.
In partnership with Dr. Paul Zak, Director of the Centre for Neuroeconomics Studies at Claremont Graduate University in California, 1 Giant Mind will be conducting laboratory studies on brain-chemistry produced during group meditation experiences involving 500+ students from Claremont University. The study, scheduled to take place on 4 May 2013, will review the amount of oxytocin, serotonin and dopamine released while people meditate together in large groups.
Commenting on the inspiration for doing this research, Dr. Zak said: “I am curious about what is happening in the brain when people have a mass meditation experience. The opportunity to study that ritual live in the field is very exciting. We will be able to assess their emotional and physiological states. Not only will this inform the science but also the practice. If this really works lets find out why?”
“Our mind states are essentially governed by our brain states and the chemistry that we produce from moment to moment. Our ability to increase our capacity to live more fulfilling, meaningful and connected lives, depends largely on us understanding how the brain works and what causes it to produce certain chemistry that promotes different responses and behavior” said Dr. Zak.
Jonni Pollard, Co-founder and Executive Director, 1 Giant Mind said: “There is a growing body of scientific evidence that shows that meditation provides a range of positive outcomes including reduced stress and anxiety and increased health and wellbeing. If meditating has these positive impacts on an individual, is there an even greater effect occurring when we practice together in large groups?”

Ashok Gangadean and Rupert Sheldrake challenged some of humanities age-old assumptions in a fascinating talk recently at Haverford College Philadelphia USA.
Jonni Pollard was invited as an honorary guest at Haverford College, to hear 1 Giant Mind supporters Rupert Sheldrake, author of the newly released ‘Science Set Free’ and renowned philosopher, Proff. Ashok Gangedean, in a profoundly eloquent discussion, entitled ’ making sense of our great evolutionary shift.’
Each brought a very unique and complimentary perspective to the floor that had the full house locked in from start to finish. You could have heard a pin drop!
Ashok, set the tone with a compelling insight into the most fundamental challenge humanity faces moving forward… Recognising and living the understanding of the interconnectedness of all things and the imperative for us to move beyond what he refers to as (monologue) into a new social paradigm he calls ((Dialogue)).
Sheldrake spoke on the topics he reveals in his new book ‘Science Set Free’ which challenges the fundamental dogmas of science. He paints an exciting picture for the potential of new scientific discoveries to enable us to move beyond many assumptions science has made about the nature of reality and into a time of embracing breakthrough and emerging knowledge. His presentation was deeply provocative and inspirational.
The discussion continued off-stage with many powerful exchanges of which 1 Giant Mind was a feature.
We feel very fortunate to have these 2 brilliant men as allies of 1 Giant Mind and look forward to many wonderful future discussions and thought symposiums.

Reknowned Physicist Dr. Konstantin Korotkov partners with 1 Giant Mind
Jonni Pollard recently spent 3 days in the lab with acclaimed Russian bio field physicist, Dr. Korotkov, to devise 1 Giant Mind’s research program for 2013.
Dr Korotkov invented a groundbreaking ‘Sputnik Sensor’ device, with which we are now able to measure the atmosphere of the earth and the subtlest shifts that occur in it. We will be utilising this device to measure what kind of changes occur when thousands of people meditate together in the same location during many of our event experiments in 2013.
Jonni witnessed first hand how the device works when they conducted an experiment in the lab using the device while he was meditating. They observed a significant shift in the reading of the atmosphere as a result of just one persons meditative state, a fascinating result.
There are many wonderful experiments to come with our partnership with the great doctor from the beautiful city of St Petersburg.We are so excited to be working with him to participate together in furthering his research!

Sri Shakthi Amma endorses 1GM and agrees to facilitate a 1GM experiment in early 2013.
Jonni was honoured to present 1GM to one of Indias most revered saints Sri Shakthi Amma and discuss plans for a large scale experiment involving 10,000 at Narayani Peedam Golden Temple in Vellore in Southern India.
Amma and Jonni discussed in great length the importance of humanity seeking very practical ways to make contact with our inner nature. Amma was enthused by 1GM’s plans to unite millions to participate in a series of global experiments to enable science to further understand what Amma describes as “our divinity”
Amma attracts over 6 million pilgrims every year, to the ashram Sri Narayani Peedam, a most beautiful place of peace, and in Jonnis words “a true wonder of the world.”

1GM experiment in Rishikesh for 2013- Jonni Pollard meets with H.H Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj
In a short visit to the city of Rishikesh in the north of India right on the holy Ganges River, Jonni Pollard met with the revered Puja Swamji to discuss a 1GM experiment opportunity at the famous Parmath Niketan ashram right on the Ganga (Ganges) river involving thousands in 2013.
Swamijii is very excited about the idea and has said that he will bring leaders from the many religions and traditions in India to attend the event. 1GM will be continuing discussion into the new year.
